Ride Out In This Digital Space

;When we were younger my girlfriends and I used to be so excited to “Ride Out”. We would be in someones house or on the street or wherever and yell out….”Lets Ride Out”. It meant we were on a mission in the streets to get to the hottest place popping. Not sure that's the current lingo for 2017. I bring that up because I, along with hundreds of others were able to “ Ride Out” this weekend to one of the hottest events in Atlanta. Not for partying or doing frivolous minded things, but for enlightenment in the entertainment industry as it comes to the digital space, African Americans, our culture and following the dollar signs. I was fortunate to participate in Atlanta’s premier Technology Conference put on by Steed Media and Rolling Out Magazine called RIDE. The conference is the brain child of Munson Steed and his team ; a long time innovator and publisher. Can I say it was awesome, legit and what we needed. There's a movement here and we’re a part of it. We fuel it and everyone else seems to benefit from what we people of color put out there in this space. Yeah us black folks. Everyone is creating, but we put that irresistible culture out there that folks can’t get enough of. RIDE Conference attendees ranged from those new to the digital experience to those running multimillion dollar digital companies. A great exchange of information on how to take control and own this space. Panel speakers ranged from Nzinga Shaw Chief Diversity officer of the NBA team the Atlanta Hawks to Miller Coors National Community Affairs director Steve Canal. Head of CBS Radio Urban and Program Director of V103 Reggie Rouse was on hand under the same roof as outspoken journalist Raquel Harper of the sometimes controversial TMZ. Iconic Filmmaker John Singleton and famed actor Laz Alonzo dropping jewels when it comes to the digital film and television space. Culture creator Kenny Burns of Combs Enterprises in the same conference as Jacob York a branding giant and go to man. Oh yes super producer, artist and tech guru Ryan Leslie. Topics of discussion in breakout form; content production, e-commerce, funding startups with venture capitalist, Hollywood models and the new music economy. You also had the opportunity to audition for Rolling Out TV. You read right. It’s a new partnership between Bobbcat films and Steed Media. I could go on and on. Most importantly everyone I talked to left feeling inspired, wanting and knowing how to start their own businesses and take advantage of the online money. Halleluiah; even me. I’ve been to hundreds of conferences, but RIDE was intimate with panelist who do business internationally helping attendees onto the platform. content production, e-commerce, funding startups with venture capitalist, Hollywood models and the new music economy. They were concerned with opening the door giving you full access to walk into the digital room to be counted and to be a money maker and most importantly to be a decision maker. The theme in every workshop and keynote? Well, we all have an opportunity to own what we do, be lucrative at it and lead this technology driven world. This digital space has leveled the playing field. Panelist reiterated all you have to do is make a small effort with guaranteed big dividends. That’s this digital world. But the key word in all of it ….OWN. RIDE gave people that look like you and me a path to OWN. I can imagine next years RIDE Conference will be even more off the hook. This is only the beginning for you and me. You want to see it? Highlights from the Ride Conference 2017 on my You Tube Channel @ Studio Set Stage W/Cynthia Mallard .........Love You All Much
